Also known as a ‘self-skipper’ charter, some of our fleet are available for you to hire by the day and use as you wish. The minimum qualification starts with RYA Powerboat Level 2 (which our training partners Sailing Logic and Mendez Marine can offer), although for some boats it is RYA Intermediate Powerboat or RYA/MCA Advanced Certificate of Competence with Commercial endorsement.
In all cases the RYA VHF Short Range Certificate is recommended, and we will conduct a full handover briefing and local area familiarisation.
Self Skipper a RIB from £450 per day!
All of our ribs have a skippered option, where we provide a fully qualified driver/host for your trip. Whether you are looking for a sunset cruise to the Isle of Wight, an adventure blast to the Hut in Colwell Bay for lunch, or something more bespoke, our experienced and capable helms will tailor the day to you.
A full safety briefing will be provided, along with personal protective equipment, and there are no damage deposits or navigation issues to worry about.
We follow the voluntary High Speed Passenger Vessel Code of Conduct, and want to ensure that your trips are memorable for the right reasons.
If you have a yacht or keelboat event, we can offer our ribs to support it in any way you need. Our most popular service sees us provide 'Zaphod' with a driver and a Race Officer, who will set courses, run start sequences, record and score finishers (using HalSail scoring software giving live results!) and engage with competitors using the VHF and an event WhatsApp group. Zaphod has a full complement of flags, sound signals, and race charts. We can make the event as informal or as serious as you would like.
Zaphod even has a toilet for competitors on open keelboats to use in between races - although there is no hot water for washing unfortunately!
For larger events we can combine multiple craft to operate start lines, finish lines, mark-laying, and handle shortened courses and press/photographer requirements too. We work with the excellent Paul Wyeth whose photos can create lasting memories.
If you simply require another rib to slot into your own race management, we can do that too. For race management services we always provide two crew on board, and will ensure that they have the right skills to make your event a success.
For local yachts and visiting race yacht crews, you may wish to charter one of our craft as a support or chase boat. We can drop off lunches, ferry crew members/owners/sails and spares to you, and whisk people ashore at the end of racing if they have urgent travel connections, for example. All our ribs are comfortable 'friends and family' boats, so if you want to keep people engaged in your sporting activities, consider asking us to take them out for the day.
Turn-key race management from £1250 per day.
Zaphod is available to RYA Training Centres at a discounted rate, for use on RYA Tender Operator, Intermediate, and Advanced Powerboat Courses. She can also be used for Instructor Training, and MCA Certificate of Competence Exams. Please contact us if you are an RYA Training Centre and would like to know more.
